Kenyan President William Ruto, on a visit to Haiti, said on Saturday that he was open to the Multinational Security Support mission being converted to a full U.N peacekeeping operation.
"On the suggestion to transit this into a fully United Nation Peacekeeping mission, we have absolutely no problem with it, if that is the direction the U.N. security council wants to take," Ruto said in Port-au-Prince.
At a news conference, William Ruto, announced that he would be sending an additional 600 officers to Haiti in the coming months.
The trip by President Ruto of Kenya came against a bleak backdrop in Haiti, where gangs operate with impunity and the Kenyan peacekeepers remain largely out of sight.
